Symptoms of flat feet

The main symptoms of flat feet include:

  • Painful or tender feet, specifically in the arch and the heel area.
  • Your feet get tired easily and the inside under the feet can become swollen.
  • Standing on your toes is difficult and often there can be associated back and leg pain.
  • Daily use of the feet can cause the posterior tibial tendon to weaken
  • Damage to the tendon may cause the foot arch to flatten.

What causes flat feet?

  • Genetic factors. Flat feet are usually inherited from parents.

Treatment and prevention of flat feet

  • Strengthing the feet and lower limb can help with this condition but in severe cases pain relief medication may be needed in the short term.
  • Treatment depends on the severity of the flat foot - either custom made orthotics (insoles prescribed by a clinician) or Enertor PX1 insoles. These will provide you with 60% shock absorption, reducing the forces to your feet, ankle, knees, hip and back and giving you arch support. These insoles can be worn in trainers and daily shoes. As a prevention it is important to rest, use ice to relieve the foot pain and to reduce any swelling.

Insoles that work

" I have flat feet and was experiencing foot pain These inserts have significantly reduced my discomfort "

Nalini S - Flat feet

" Recently bought these as my previous insoles has reached the end of their life, and these are unbelievably comfortable, with excellent support. I have flat feet and running can cause shin splints, however these counter that amazingly. "

Charlie M - Flat feet

" I purchased these a few weeks ago, and waited till I had run in them a few times before giving feedback. I have used insoles from at least two other big name running insole brands, and these might be my favorite. I'll have to wait and see how they last over time. But my first few runs I felt like I had good arch support that wasn't over-aggressive. I have flat feet and so this is always a tricky balance for me. I also think they provide good cushion for me as a heavier (225 lb) guy but they're still responsive. I had an issue with my order and was impressed with their service as well. "

Thomas B - Flat feeet

" I’ve gone through a lot of insoles to try to help my flat feet, and these are the best i’ve tried. they are a great balance of firm support and cushioning. I noticed that my feet did not hurt after a 5 mile run like they usually do. I also liked the slim profile, they do not add too much weight or bulk to your shoes. overall, great solution for your feet! "
