tennis insole protection

Tennis and its impact on the lower limb - how an insole could help you!

Tennis is an intense sport, requiring both strength and endurance. It involves making sudden movements and sharp stops, increasing the risk of injury to players. Common tennis injuries include, bursitis, patellofemoral pain syndrome, patella tendinopathy and ankle sprains.

Bursitis: Pain and inflammation of the fluid filled sac, located behind the kneecap. Often associated with trauma, or overuse due to repetitive movements.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome: Pain directly on and around the kneecap, this can range from mild to moderate.caused by physical activities which involving repeated loading through the knee, ie. sprinting round the court to return the ball.

Patella Tendinopathy: An overuse injury, caused by stressing the patella tendon which originates from the quadriceps muscle (quadriceps tendon), joins to the knee and inserts at the top of the tibia (shin bone). Repetitive explosive contractions where the knee is having to extend and flex, such as jumping and landing, can cause the patella tendon to strain. If the tendon does not have time to repair, it can result in patella tendinopathy.

The main causes associated with the three tennis injuries mentioned above are, trauma from having to absorb shock and repetitive stress and loading of the knee. With the use of certain insoles, the risk of developing a tennis injury can be greatly reduced.

Enetor have a range of insoles which can be used to help with shock attenuation and reduced loading through the knee. Enertor insoles use D30 technology to help with impact protection. There are also insoles with supportive technology providing stability and support, reducing the risk of ankle sprains when performing sharp twists and turns on the tennis court.
