The 4 Best meals for runners

Trying to find the best meals for runners can be difficult. It seems there’s always new opinions surfacing about what to eat, and when. Here are 4 of our favourites. We’ve picked them because they have a great nutritional profile, they’re quick and easy, and they can be enjoyed at any time of day.

Sweet potato breakfast bowl

It might seem unusual but when you think about it, eating sweet potato for breakfast is a very good idea. It’s filled with complex carbs to help you fuel up, along with a vitamin and nutrient profile you don’t often see in the mornings. It’s one of the best meals for runners Try microwaving a sweet potato until it’s soft. Mash with a fork and sprinkle with warm maple syrup and walnuts for an American style flavour.

Soba noodles with satay sauce

A delicious dinner with generous serves of carbs, fats and proteins. Cook soba noodles to packet instructions. Whizz a sauce in a blender, made from peanut butter, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic and ginger. Toss the sauce and noodles to coat.

Trail mix bliss

Use these nutritional powerhouses to top up your reserves on your next long run. They’re also great for mornings that don’t have time for a cooked breakfast. Add ingredients to a food processor one at a time, giving plenty of time to incorporate each one. Use almond butter, honey, rolled oats, pepitas, dried cherries or other fruit, chocolate chips, chopped almonds and toasted wheat germ. Roll them into balls and keep in the fridge until you need them.

Stuffed omelettes

Eggs are a fantastic source of nutrition, and there’s plenty of protein in there to help muscle recovery – it’s one of the best meals for runners. Beat 2 eggs together, then melt some butter into a pan. When the pan is very hot, pour the eggs in, making sure to cover the surface. As the bottom of the egg is setting, let the uncooked egg onto the pan surface. When it’s almost completely set, throw some fillings onto one side and fold the omelette over to finish cooking. Tasty fillings include tomato cheese and avocado, shredded chicken, smoked salmon or even diced or stewed fruit.

What people are saying about Enertor insoles?

  • A I.

    Super comfy
Super insoles, have really given my feet the extra support when I’m running, I train 4 times a week and really comfortable fit round my feet.

  • marlon morais

    Very comfy
Found these very comfy and cushioned but did slightly supinate my feet. On one leg this felt fine on other it took a bit of getting use to. I used these at the end of an Olympic triathlon where the 10k run was very tough and the comfort was noted. Only problem being with the thickness of the insole, when I ran without socks this lifted my heel up in shoe and gave me a blister where I can normally run in my triathlon trainers without socks. I’d only use these for longer triathlons where I would definitely be wearing socks.

  • Maureen S.

What can I say, a wonderful invention. I have problems with my right foot in laced shoes so was a little dubious about trying the insoles. They are so comfortable to wear and give quite a lot of support. I would definitely recommend them. My mum also has a condition called foot drop and she has also got a pair and thinks they’re amazing, she now feels more confident about walking for longer periods as the insole gives her foot much need support.

    A very comfortable insole
I have had 2 rounds of golf in the last 7 days, the insoles have been excellent. I normally have sore heels and calves after one round, however using these insoles those pains are not there, even after 2 rounds

Haven’t really used insoles before but these were a good fit into my shoe and were very comfortable around your foot. Highly recommend using these if you run a lot.

  • Gray H.

    Very good
I have not had much time to sample my new inserts, but from the small time I’ve had them, I have experienced less discomfort from impact to my feet.

    Best I’ve Used
Recently received my Enertor insoles and put them straight to use in my running shoes. Have used many pairs of insoles previously but these are by far the most comfortable. The heel cup holds the foot in position perfectly and the cushioning is superb without compromising on stability. Look forward to many miles in them. Recommended

    For Athletes
These are a good quality, comfortable insole that gives really good support and cushioning. My only gripe is that it does make the shoe feel heavy, though this isn’t any different to the others I have tried.

  • Imogen B.

    Great Support
Foot feels supported and secure and the insoles appear to be very durable
